Agave holds a similar appearance to that of Honey and syrup

The taste of agave is comparable though not identical to honey. It also has none of the bitter aftertaste associated with artificial sweeteners

Agave nectar aka Agave syrup is sweeter than honey and tends to be far less viscous. The majority of Agave syrup comes from warm countries like Mexico and South Africa where the Agave plant can grow naturally.

Agave syrup is 40 - 60% times sweeter than sugar and is often used in recipes as a substitute for sugar or honey. In cooking, it is commonly used as a vegan alternative to honey for those who choose to exclude animal products from their diets.

Agave syrup is available from Rigest in many forms including, light, amber and dark varieties. The different syrups have different qualities with the lighter syrup having a subtler taste and dark agave syrup being stronger and more bitter.

As a thick liquid agave is available from Rigest in 25L, 200L and 1000L containers and can be delivered to businesses across the UK and abroad by our trusted delivery partners.

Other Names: Agave syrup, Agave honey

  • Agave syrup dissolves quickly and can be used as a sweetener for cold beverages such as iced tea. It is added to some breakfast cereals as a binding agent.
  • Light agave syrup has a mild, almost neutral flavour, and is therefore sometimes used in delicate-tasting dishes and beverages.
  • Amber agave syrup has a medium-intensity caramel flavour and is used in dishes and drinks with stronger flavours.
  • Dark agave syrup has stronger caramel notes and imparts a distinct flavour to dishes, such as desserts, poultry, meat, and seafood.
  • Both amber and dark agave syrups are sometimes used "straight out of the bottle" as a topping for pancakes, waffles, and French toast. The dark version is unfiltered and therefore contains a higher concentration of the agave plant's minerals
