summary

Stevia is a sweetener and sugar substitute extracted from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana. The leaves have been used traditionally for hundreds of years in both Brazil and Paraguay to sweeten local teas and medicines, and as a "sweet treat".

Stevia extracts are 200 times sweeter than regular sucrose and are low in calorie content making them an extremely popular sugar substitute for those on controlled diets. Due to its stability under varying PH and heat conditions, Stevia is consistently popular amongst food and drink manufacturers for application in dairy products, baked goods, dietary products, beverages and table top sweeteners.

description

  • Stevia hold applications in dairy foods (e.g. ice cream, yoghurt and flavoured milks), as well as breakfast cereals, cereal bars and certain types of confectionery and sweet bakery goods. This is chiefly because it is sectors such as these in which food manufacturers have been actively seeking to reduce sugar content.
  • Stevia sweetener is also used in high volume as table top sweeteners.

As global stevia suppliers we package orders in 25kg bags and can handle orders including bulk quantities. For over 20 years we have worked as stevia distributors for some of the world’s largest food and drink manufacturers. Contact our team to discuss your stevia requirements today.
